Partnership Exchange Visit on CCI

CICADA’s Director, Phina SO, along with 17 other cultural professionals from the Mekong countries, is participating in a Partnership Exchange Visit on Cultural and Creative Industries between Project Sites in the Mekong Countries and the Republic of Korea from 3-5 December.

SO Phina, CICADA’s Director and SONG Seng, a Founder of Cultural Experience Cambodia and CICADA’s member

The visit, titled «Promoting Creative Industry for Heritage Tourism Development in the Mekong Region», enables participants to learn best practices from Korean institutions aligned with program’s objectives of preserving and promoting CCI products and traditional knowledge, fostering collaboration and partnerships, and continuing these efforts after the visit.

Three personal key learnings of SO Phina, CICADA’s Director:

  1. The Korean CCI is well-developed due to strong government support through research, supportive policies, financial investment, and intellectual property rights.
Data on the Status of Korean CCI

2. Local governments play a crucial role in supporting their artisans and craftsmen. They have their own strategies and financial support systems for local artists, such as grants, scholarships, and other services like brand building and marketing etc.

3. The more personal the work, the more creative it becomes. This can be a valuable lesson for artists and cultural practitioners.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the eye-opening experiences and insights this program has provided. The level of development in Korea’s CCI is truly inspiring, and we hope that Cambodia will foster a similarly thriving creative industry in the future.
